Pledge to promote awareness of diabetes

As an attempt to commemorate World Diabetes Day 2010, as many as fifty persons including students, teachers, doctors and nurses took a pledge to promote awareness of diabetes and its prevention, here on Saturday.

The Kalaignar Maaligai situated on the premises of Queen Mary's College was lit with blue lights to symbolise the event.

Speakers at the event, organised by M.V. Centre for Diabetes, Mylapore and Inner Wheel Club of Adyar, stressed the importance of a healthy lifestyle, including proper food habits and keeping fit.

The pledge was administered by Film Actor Sakthi in the presence of P. Sakthivelu, I.P.S. Joint Commissioner of Police (South Zone). T. Ambujam, Principal, Queen Mary's College and Vijay Viswanathan, Managing Director, M.V. Hospital for Diabetes were present at the function.
