More than 20 passengers injured in head-on collision

More than 20 passengers were injured when two Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses collided head-on at East Tambaram on Velachery Main Road on Sunday.

Traffic police said that the buses 51A from East Tambaram to Agaram and T51 from Tiruvanmiyur to East Tambaram collided head-on around 11 a.m, resulting in injuries to more than 20 passengers travelling in both the buses. However, police added that no one was critical.

The accident took place at one of the narrowest stretches of arterial Velachery Main Road. Permanent medians have been provided on most stretches of this road, except for a small portion between Medavakkam and Pallikaranai and also between East Tambaram and Camp Road junction.
