Over eight universities will participate in the two-day ‘Malaysian Education Fair 2010' in the city from Saturday.

It is being organised by the Malaysian Consulate-General and the Institute of Management Training and Placement Consultants at Hotel Chola Sheraton.

Consul General of Malaysia Anuar Kasman told a press meet here on Thursday that the fair will educate students on the opportunities available to pursue studies in Malaysian universities. It would also admit students for the July and September 2010 intakes.

These universities offer undergraduate, post-graduate and Ph.D programmes at affordable rates in Malaysia, he said.

Students of Class X can also apply for undergraduate courses, for which they will undergo a one-year foundation course.

University of Nottingham, Swinburne University of Technology, Monash University, University of Putra, SEGi University College, HELP University College, Taylor's University College and Sunway University College will participate in the fair. Twinning programmes are offered by Canadian and American universities that have a tie-up with the Malaysian universities.

The University of Nottingham will provide scholarships of up to 25 per cent to students who have scored above 90 per cent in their qualifying examination.

Representatives of the Malaysian Tourism Board will be present at the fair to clear student's queries on the visa procedures and places of interest in Malaysia.

There is no entrance free for the fair.
