: Almost all the advocates’ associations in the Madras High Court have announced a one-day boycott of court proceedings on Friday in support of the ongoing protests for jallikattu.

This includes the oldest association – the Madras Bar Association and the largest association – the Madras High Court Advocates Association.

“The call has been made in view of the unprecedented upsurge among the youngsters and common people in Tamil Nadu and across the world in support of jalikattu,” said a statement.

The members of the associations have resolved to abstain from court proceedings on Friday to show solidarity and wholehearted support to the ongoing protests.

The Women Lawyers Association and the National Green Tribunal Bar Association, Chennai, have also extended their support to the boycott.
