Journey of Mother Tamil's bronze statue flagged off

Kalaignar Tamil Payanam, the journey of the bronze statue of Mother Tamil to Coimbatore, the venue of World Classical Language Conference, began on Wednesday. Poet Vairamuthu and Kundrakudi Ponnampala Adigal flagged off the journey undertaken by Udayarkolil Guna, general secretary, Tamil Thai Arakattalai. The vehicle would travel across the State before reaching Coimbatore on June 21. Talking to the reporters, Mr Vairamuthu said the purpose of the journey was to invite the people to the conference, besides explaining the contribution made by Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi to the development of Tamil.
