The 98th Indian Science Congress at SRM University in Kattankulathur is reported to be unparalleled both in terms of the number of delegates and the spectrum of participation of distinguished scientists and Nobel Laureates, a spokesperson for the event has said.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated this annual event on Monday. On Tuesday morning, R. Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Adviser to Government of India will chair a session in the morning.
The session on enhancing academia-industry interactions, will have debates relating to academia-industry cooperation in automotive research, interaction for machine tool development in the country, role of research and development in the Indian Electronics Industry sector among many other issues.
R. Ramamurthi, former General President of Indian Science Congress Association, will chair the session relating to ‘Environmental technology: Issues relating to waste minimisation and management'.
Professor M.S.Swaminathan, eminent scientist, will chair the ‘Science Academies Summit between 11 a.m. and 1. pm. on Tuesday.
