Four persons surrender in connection with murder

Four persons surrendered at Kanchi taluk police station on Friday stating that they had murdered a person on April 7.

According to police, Vadivel, Sathya, Arunkumar and Manikandan, all residents of Thirukalimedu area on the eastern outskirts of the town, came to the Kanchi taluk police station around noon on Friday and informed the police that they had committed a murder and wanted to surrender.

On interrogation, they said that the victim, Anandakumar of Tambaram, who became a friend of Vadivel at the Puzhal Central Prison, came to Thirukalimedu on April 7 evening to meet him. Both had gone to Nathapettai lake area for a conversation.

When they did not return even after an hour, Vadivel's friends – Sathya, Arunkumar and Manikandan – went to the lake. When they reached the lake they found Anandakumar threatening Vadivel with a knife. Police said that Vadivel and his friends overpowered and murdered Anandakumar and dumped the body in the lake.
