Eight-seater aircraft seized for alleged duty evasion

The Customs Department here has seized an eight-seater Beachcraft aircraft belonging to a Delhi-based private company for alleged customs Duty evasion amounting to Rs three crore.

The Superking Air B-200 was seized on Thursday, an official release from R Periasamy, Customs Commissioner (Airport),said.

The aircraft was imported by wrongly declaring facts to evade Customs Duty payment amounting to Rs three crore approximately, the release said without identifying the company.

The aircraft, whose value was quoted at Rs 12.84 crore, was also imported in violation of Foreign Trade Policy provisions, the release said.
