Eight arrested in dacoity case

Eight persons have been arrested in the dacoity case reported from Guduvanchery on August 30, said Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kancheepuram Range, M. Ramasubramani, talking to presspersons.

On August 30, from the house of Paramasivam, a real estate agent, Rs.1.96 lakh in cash, 21 sovereigns of jewellery and land documents were robbed and Paramasivam was attacked. The arrested are Thiyagarajan and Nandagopal, both of Guduvancheri; Johnson, Muthumallaiaraja and Suyambudurai of Tuticorin ; Suresh of Tirunelveli ; and Ramesh and Prabhu of Kanyakumari. They were remanded to judicial custody on Thursday.
