Complaint filed against actor

An advocate here has filed a complaint before a magistrate court at Egmore here against actor Jayaram for allegedly making a derogatory remark against Tamil women wantonly.

In the complaint, A. Indirani of Chintadripet stated that the actor had made the remark on a Malayalam television channel. When a reporter of a Tamil weekly sought a clarification, he had not expressed regret and said he had made the comment in a lighter vein.

According to the police, a group of youth threw stones, damaging window panes of the house on Lakshmi Street. Furniture at the entrance were set on fire. Police personnel posted at the house chased and apprehended eight of the accused persons.
