Cargo plane lands under emergency conditions at Chennai airport

A Hyderabad-bound private cargo flight landed under emergency conditions at the airport here on Thursday morning after smoke started emanating from one of its engines.

According to airport sources, the Chennai-Hyderabad Blue Dart cargo plane was 20 minutes into its flight when smoke was detected from one of the engines.

The pilot immediately informed Chennai airport and all precautionary measures were taken for the landing. Fire force personnel were also kept ready.

The flight made a safe landing and the cargo was despatched to Hyderabad by another flight.
