The Airport Police have arrested an employee of Jet Airways, Coimbatore, and two of his friends on charges of stealing a debit card from the baggage of a passenger.

S.R. Jangid, Commissioner of Police, Suburban, said R. Varadharajulu (24) returned to Chennai from the U.S. on May 3 this year. When he landed, two of his bags were not handed over to him. On enquiry with the airline, they said the bags were missing.

On May 4, the airline handed over one of his bags. A few days later, he came to know that his debit card was used by someone in Coimbatore. He lodged a complaint.

A special team, with the help of Cyber Crime Wing of the suburban police, arrested P. Kadhiravan, the airline staff, M. Ranjith Kumar and G. Karthik.

Mr. Jangid said the baggage of Mr. Varadharajulu was lying unclaimed in Coimbatore. While Kadhiravan stole the debit card, Gowrishankar, Commercial-in-charge of Jet Airways, Coimbatore, stole a camera from the baggage. The police are on the lookout for him.
