Advocates abstain from courts

Advocates abstained from courts on Friday to protest against the “lethargic attitude” of the Tamil Nadu Government in taking action against the police officers responsible for the lathicharge on advocates in the High Court premises on February 19 last year. The boycott was in response to a call given by the Joint Action Committee of advocates’ associations.

President of the Tamil Nadu Advocates Association S.Prabakaran said every year, February 19 would be observed as “Black Day.”

Advocates, who included president of the Madras High Court Advocates Association R.C.Paul Kanagaraj and Mr.Prabakaran, organised a human chain in front of the High Court.
