The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) women’s wing on Tuesday praised “Amma’s” police (Chennai City Police) for cracking the case in connection with the murder of software professional S. Swathi, within seven days of the crime.
A resolution passed unanimously at the women’s wing meeting said, “Amma’s police have proved yet again that they are equal to the Scotland Yard by solving the case of software engineer Swathi’s murder at the Nungambakkam railway station, which comes under the control of the Central government.”
‘Safest city’
“By solving the case within a week without any clues to begin with, the police have yet again proved that Chennai was the safest of the cities in the country for women and had put in dustbin the lies and claims of the Opposition that law and order had deteriorated in the State,” the resolution said.
The meeting, presided over by the women’s wing secretary, Vijila Sathyananth, MP, also hailed the Chief Minister for the women-centric welfare schemes and promised to enrol more women to the party, take her achievements to people and to emerge victorious in the local body elections also.
None of the resolutions, though, thanked or praised the Chief Minister for increasing the quota for women in local bodies to 50 per cent.
