The AIADMK will stage a demonstration at Panruti on May 7 to protest against the delay in execution of development projects and condemn the police for foisting false cases against Opposition councillors.
In a statement, AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa said the DMK had snatched the post of municipal chairman by misusing power. As a result, the town had not seen any development for the past four years.
The government had announced underground drainage scheme for the town in 2006 and the municipal council passed a resolution for a new drinking water scheme in 2007 but both the schemes had not taken off till now. The quality of road and building works was below par and the town lacked in sanitation.
