A break from work for IT professionals

Event company helps them showcase talent

It’s not just about coding, excel sheets, power point presentation or computers for IT professionals and corporates anymore, with companies encouraging a range of non-work related activities to help them beat stress and showcase talents.

Wow Celebrations, an event company in the city has cashed in on this need to promote talent and makes use of social media to give working professionals a big boost.

“While we initially conducted rounds of auditions across four corporate companies and uploaded videos of about 200 persons showcasing their talents on our, we have also encouraged participants to email us entries till June 22. The 15 best entries, whose videos receive the maximum hits online, will be selected to compete in a grand final on June 25,” said H. Ibrahim, founder of the company.

Apart from contests like this, a few companies have their own in-house cultural events which bring together employees from different locations. “It’s an event we look forward to because we don’t get the time otherwise to socialise with our colleagues, given hectic schedules and shifts. Many of us make time for rehearsals and ensure we participate as we otherwise don’t have any such opportunities,” said B. Swati, who works in an MNC in Chennai.

N. Sahridaya, who works in a software company, said that apart from grand cultural events which brings together a lot of people across different locations, the teams they work in also have activities conducted every fortnight by the human resource department.
