3 killed in accident

Three persons were killed and two others sustained injuries in successive accidents involving a mini-van and two motorcycles on East Coast Road near Mamallapuram on Monday afternoon.

According to police, the first accident took place around 2-15 p.m. when the motorcycle, carrying three persons, collided with the van proceeding from Chennai to Puducherry when Mohan of Thaiyur, who was driving the motorcycle attempted to enter the ECR.In the impact, all the three persons, Mohan, Mari and his son Parthasarathy hailing from the same village were fatally knocked down.

Rushed to hospital

Within seconds, another motorcycle taking a turn into Mamallapuram from the ECR at the junction hit the van and overturned. Palayam of Paiyanur and pillion rider Raja were injured and rushed to a hospital, the police said.
