The bodies of three men, who reportedly ventured into the sea, were washed ashore at the Marina Beach on Saturday

While one of the bodies that was washed ashore around 7.30 a.m. is yet to be identified, the other two have been identified as victims in two different incidents.

They reportedly drowned while swimming in the sea off Marina. One of the two victims was Kannan of Kodungaiyur, an engineering student.

Midday incident

He and a few of his friends swam in the sea, but Kannan went missing. His body was washed ashore behind the MGR memorial around 11 a.m.

Meanwhile, Jeyanchandran, 50, of Tirumazhisai, who worked in an automobile firm, had come to the Marina. He too drowned in the sea and his body was washed ashore around 2.30 p.m. The bodies have been sent to the Tamil Nadu Government Multi Super Speciality Hospital for post-mortem.

While many complained of inadequate patrolling on the beach, police said they need additional strength, especially during weekends.
