more-in

The Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the Hosur Municipality Commissioner to proceed against private contractors collecting money illegally from water tankers plying in the area, as road tax. Justice N. Kirubakaran passed the directive on a petition moved by water tanker owners in Hosur.

When the petition came for hearing on Wednesday, the counsel for Hosur Municipality submitted that show-cause notices were served on the contractors.

The court then directed the Municipal Commissioner to file action taken report. Uniform, and identity cards should be provided for its employees so that no third party can collect money.

The judge directed the municipality to upload its entire income and expenditure statement on its official website, as done by other municipalities in the State.
