24-hour fever helpline set up in TN

All government medical colleges and district hospitals have facilities to treat H1N1; the helpline numbers are 044-2435 0496 and 044-2433 4811; information will also be had at 104, 94443 40496 and 93614 82899.

The State government has set up a 24-hour helpline where public can get information on swine flu and other fevers.

The helpline was announced following a meeting chaired by C. Vijayabaskar, Health Minister, on Saturday to review the measures taken to deal with H1N1 in the State, a release said.

Swine flu is a seasonal influenza, and Tamil Nadu has adequate stocks of Tamiflu, the medication for H1N1, the release said, adding that King Institute, Chennai, and Jipmer, Puducherry, along with 13 private laboratories were equipped to diagnose it.

The helpline numbers are 044-2435 0496 and 044-2433 4811.
