After months of speculation about when Rajinikanth's 2.0 will hit the screens, a release date has finally been set.

Director Shankar said that the film would be releasing on November 29.

Making the announcement on his official Twitter account, he said, “At last the VFX companies promised the final delivery date. The movie will release on Nov 29th 2018."

The film, which was initially scheduled to release during Deepavali in 2017, had seen a delay of almost a year, owing to the work involved in special effects.

A grand music launch for the film, which has songs composed by A. R Rahman, was held in Dubai last October. The team behind the project has been releasing short clips on the making of the film and how it will be an exciting 3D experience.

2.0, which also stars Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar, will see Rajinikanth reprise his role from Endhiran .

This announcement means Rajinikanth’s fans will have a double treat this year as last film Kaala released in June.

Rajinikanth is currently shooting for director Karthik Subbaraj's next venture.
