Lyca Productions has announced that their latest mega-budget offering, 2.0, starring actor Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, will have the 'biggest release for any foreign film in history’ in the Republic of China in May 2019. The Tamil, Hindi and Telugu versions of the film released on November 29. With the trade declaring the film to be a huge success, a press release from the production house said that the film, which is said to be one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema, will release in close to 47,000 3-D screens and 56,000 screens in total. The film will be released in association with HY Media.
“The dubbed and subtitled versions of 2.0 will release in 10,000 theatres - 56,000 screens out of which 47,000 will be in 3-D,” said Lyca Productions. The production house also said that it recognises China as a major film market. After producing Rajinikanth's 2.0, Lyca Productions will also be producing director Shankar's next Indian 2 in which Kamal Haasan will be playing the lead role.
