The Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Friday arrested two persons for cheating a woman by selling her a piece of land belonging to the Parthasarathy temple using forged documents.

The police said Vaidhegi, 32, a resident of Venkatachala Naicker Street, Triplicane, lodged a complaint alleging that she was cheated by the duo. She wanted to buy a piece of land in Triplicane to establish a dance school.

A man identified as Rajendran was introduced to the woman by Balaji, a land broker. Rajendran claimed he had 1,041 sq ft of land at Muthukalathi Street. She bought the land using her savings and by obtaining loans from a bank. She realised that it was temple land when she began construction. After she lodged a complaint with the police, the duo went missing. After investigation, the CCB arrested Rajendran alias Thiyagarajan, 47, of Thiruverkadu and V. Balaji, 41, of Choolai. They were remanded to judicial custody on Friday.
