A 14-year-old girl committed suicide at her house in Old Washermenpet on Sunday.
The girl took the extreme measure after her neighbour threatened to upload obscene pictures of her, which were taken when she was in a drunken condition, on the internet.
According to police, R. Parameshwari, a class IX student in a government school and her two siblings often used to spend time in the house of their neighbours, Kalaivani (24) and Rafi (26).
As her mother, Selvi, was to arrive home late after finishing work, Parameshwari spent an evening a fortnight ago in Kalaivani’s house where she was compelled by the couple to have some alcohol.When Parameshwari was in a drunken state, she was stripped and pictures and videos were taken.
When a quarrel ensued between Kalaivani and Selvi a few days later, Kalaivani threatened Parameshwri that she would upload the pictures on the internet. Subsequently, Rani told her mother about the incident. However, fearing that the possible uploading of those pictures would ruin her future, Parameshwari took her life by hanging herself.
Old Washermenpet police have filed a case against Kalaivani and Rafi under section 306 of IPC.
