The security and vigilance officials of the KSRTC caught a 25-year-old unemployed youth from Puttur, who walked into the corporation headquarters to report for duty with a fake appointment order.

The accused, Ashwin Militon Sequeira, reportedly confessed that he paid two people — identified as Cyril and Punith — ₹2 lakh to get the letter. According to the police, it was made to look like it had been issued by the Transport Department, appointing him for the job of administrative officer of KSRTC. “Around 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sequeira confidently walked into KSRTC head office at Shanti Nagar and submitted the appointment letter. It had a fake seal and signature,” said the police. When officials cross-checked, they realised that it did not have the authorised signature of the KSRTC recruitment officer.

Based on the complaint filed by H.B. Shivaprakash, Deputy Chief Security Officer, the Wilson Garden police have taken up a case against Sequeira and two of his associates charging them under cheating and forgery. Efforts are on to nab Cyril ad Punith, said the police.
