You can file your IT returns at Palace Grounds from July 25

The Income Tax Department is setting up around 100 special counters to enable income tax assessees to file their IT returns before the July 31 deadline.

To facilitate easy and hassle-free process, the department is putting up the counters at Gayathri Vihar, Palace Grounds, from July 25 to July 31.

It will remain open between 9.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on all days, including holidays.

Refunds too

A press release said during this period, IT returns of salaried assessees and pensioners will not be received anywhere else.

Arrangements will also be made to receive the refund returns.

E-return

Assessees with total annual income exceeding Rs.10 lakh are required to file their returns electronically, and special facility is being provided at the venue to enable them to e-file them.

Facilities

The counters will have facilities such as ATMs, swipe machines and bank extension counters to facilitate instant payment of taxes, if any.

Tax return preparers will assist the assessees prepare their returns and PAN Service counters will help the assessees to apply for new PAN or update new address or to rectify any defects in their existing PAN.

There will be a Medical Support Unit in case of emergencies and food courts to cater to the public. Help desks and tax volunteers will be available to guide the taxpayers.
