The body of a 28-year-old woman, who had been missing since May 8 from her residence in Banashankari stage- I, was found dead in Sankey Tank Lake in Sadashivnagar police station limits on Sunday noon.
The deceased identified as L. Rekha, married to Sripad Rao for the past one-and-a-half years. According to the police, the incident came to light, after few locals noticed the body floating in Sankey Tank and immediately alerted the police who rushed to the spot and fished out Rekha’s body.
Initially, the police had thought that the body was of a 40-year-old woman.
When the Sadashivnagar police was trying to ascertain the identity of the woman and contacted their counterparts to look for any missing complaints filed, they learnt that Girinagar police had a missing complaint registered in their station on May 8 and the description matched that of the deceased. They immediately contacted the deceased’s family who identified the deceased as L. Rekha.
“Rekha was said to be in depression for over one month and had developed suicidal tendencies. The parents of the deceased told the police that the couple was living peacefully and there were no domestic problems,” said an investigating officer.
The Sadashivnagar police have registered a case of unnatural death.
