Woman ‘assaulted’ by neighbour

A 45-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by her neighbour in her house at Annapoorneshwari Nagar on Friday.

The accused, Jettappa, armed with a knife allegedly barged into the house when she was alone, gagged her, and sexually assaulted her.

Neighbours, alerted by the disturbance in the house, went to investigate but the attacker was able to escape, said the police.

The woman hails from Vijayapura and had moved to Bengaluru two years ago with her husband and two children.

“The family lives in a rented house and work as construction labourers while the children were admitted to a school,” the police said .

Based on the complaint the Annapoorneshwari Nagar police are on the lookout for Jettappa who is on the run.
