Dollars Colony in J.P. Nagar VII phase has been in the eye of a storm after many alleged that the revenue authorities were going soft on the layout even though it was built on Linganahalli lake.

The fate of Dollars Colony in J.P. Nagar VII phase hangs in balance as records now in the public domain indicate that the BDA had no legal basis to form the layout.

The layout that houses the elite of the city has been in the eye of a storm after many alleged that revenue authorities were going soft on the layout even though it was built on Linganahalli lake.

A 1988 government order excludes Linganahalli lake, Shivanagilu lake and Jakkarayanakere from the preservation list, saying they had lost the characteristics of a water body.

However, the land was not transferred to the BDA and the 2014-15 RTC also shows the area as a lake. The State government had denotified all land notified for the layout in 2001, 2002 and 2004.

BDA Commissioner conceded that the layout was developed in Survey No. 167 in Linganahalli lake whereas records claim it is in Survey No. 7 of Sarakki village. BDA has submitted to the Upa Lokayukta that it is unable to trace records pertaining to the layout.
