Vietnam looks to double tourism from India

Vietnam, which has gained interest from travellers worldwide, is looking to increase its share of Indian tourists in the coming years.

Speaking at the India-Vietnam Trade-Investment-Tourism Promotion Forum 2019 here on Monday, Nguyen Quy Phuong, the Director General Travel Industry Management Department, said, “Over 102,173 people travelled from India to Vietnam in August 2019. This can be doubled in the next few years with an increase in tourism programmes.”

Travelling to Vietnam is also set to become easier with direct flights from Kolkata to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, officials said.

The forum gave opportunities to travel operators to invest in Vietnam Trade and Tourism. The forum shed light on why Indian companies must invest in India.

The forum also discussed how business can be made more functional and easier to foreign companies, how Vietnam needs to make long term visas more easily attainable for businessmen or make India a no-visa country to travel to Vietnam and how change in Vietnamese policies have been disadvantageous to overseas investors.
