In an attempt to “cleanse” and “revamp” the Education Department, it has finally gazetted the Karnataka State Civil Services (Regulation of Transfers of Block Education Officers/Deputy Directors (BEO/DDPI) and other officers in the department of public instruction), Rules 2015.
Under these rules, any officer who brings political influence for transfer to a particular place will be liable for disciplinary action and it would be treated as misconduct. Besides this, the maximum period a BEO and DDPI can serve in one place is three years and the minimum is two years.
The rules also state that if an officer working in an executive post faces a departmental enquiry or a criminal case, the officer should be posted to a non-executive post.
