An unemployed engineering graduate committed suicide after killing his wife and daughter over a family feud at his house in Yelahanka New Town on Monday night.

The deceased have been identified as Amit Kumar Jha (35), his wife Meenakshi Jha (30) and their two-year-old daughter. The family was living in a rented house in Someshwaranagar and were natives of Bihar. The couple were living in the city for the past six years. Amit stabbed his wife to death and fed poison to his daughter, before hanging himself.

According to the police, though both were engineering graduates, Amit was unemployed. Meenakshi was running a pre-school in the area. The couple fought frequently as Amit was said to be an alcoholic.

The incident came to light on Monday evening, when the house maid came to the house. The house was locked from outside and despite several calls Meenakshi did not respond. Suspecting something wrong, the woman informed the house owner. They broke open the door and found the bodies.

The Yelahanka New Town police have registered a case and investigations are on.
