Two workers who were asphalting the road in the safari area of Bannerghatta Biological Park (BBP) ended up with injuries on Tuesday morning after a wild elephant appeared out of the blue.
Maheshwari (20) and Nagamma (50) were rushed to Jayanagar General Hospital where they were given first aid and referred to Victoria Hospital for further treatment. T. Durganna, Medical Superintendent, Victoria Hospital said Maheshwari was stable but Nagamma was in the ICU. She has suffered chest and abdominal injuries.
The contractor they were working for is reportedly bearing the cost of treatment, sources said.
Range Gowda, Executive Director, Bannerghatta Biological Park, said the incident occurred on a one-km stretch, which passes by the elephant safari enclosure.
