The Peenya police have arrested two Garment Factory employees for looting a friend’s house.

The accused, identified as, Latha (32) and Shwetha (24) from Nagarabhavi befriended Vasantha, a home-maker from MSR Layout a few days ago and planned to loot the house.

As per the plan, Shwetha invited Vasantha last week to her house and introduced Latha. Shwetha took out the house keys from Vasantha’s bag after diverting her attention and gave it to Latha.

As Vasantha was still at Shwetha’s house, Latha reached Vasantha’s house and entered the house using stolen keys and took away all the gold valuables and silver articles along with cash amount of Rs. 10, 500. The duo managed to put the keys back in Vasantha’s bag.

The incident came to light when Vasantha returned home to find her house burgled and valuables looted. The Peenya police rushed to the spot and upon investigations, concluded that someone known to Vasantha might be involved as there were no signs of forced entry.

The police also obtained a CCTV footage from the neighbouring house which captured Latha entering the house. Vasantha immediately identified her, based on which the police picked up Latha on Thursday and a detailed questioning led her to confess to the crime.

The police have recovered the valuables and remanded the duo to judicial custody.
