Two school buses collide, 3 PU students injured

Remaining 30 students unhurt, said the police

Three students were injured when a private school bus collided with another bus ferrying pre-university students in Bagaluru on Monday around 7 a.m.

“One bus was ferrying students from Delhi Public School. There were three children on board, and the driver was on his way to pick up other school children,” said the police.

The other bus was ferrying 30 students from a pre-university college. After the vehicles collided, the bus ferrying PU students hit a transformer on the side of the road before coming to a halt,” said the police.

The windshields of both buses were shattered. The injured students — Nitish, Sanjay and Darshan — are all aged 17 and are from Nagarjuna Pre University College. They were near the driver’s seat.

Nitesh is being treated for a fracture in his leg. Sanjay and Darshan suffered minor bruises and were discharged from the private hospital they were taken to.

The Chikkajala traffic police rushed to the spot and conducted a detailed probe. The managements of the school and college were alerted by the police, and alternative arrangements were made to drop off the students.

“Negligence on the part of the school bus driver led to the accident,” said the police, who have arrested the driver, Siddesh, 48, and seized both buses for further investigations.
