Two men on bikes snatch chains worth Rs. 4 lakh

Two men on a motorcycle snatched gold chains worth over Rs. 4 lakh from two women in separate incidents on Saturday.

According to the police, the accused intercepted Puttamma, a resident of Bommanahalli, in Madiwala and made away with a gold chain weighing 80 gram.

Ms. Puttamma was returning home after buying groceries from a nearby shop . The Madiwala police have taken up a case.

Minutes later, homemaker Lalitha Patil ( 50) was robbed in similar fashion in Nandini Layout . Ms. Patil was sweeping in front of her house when two men on motorcycle approached her on the pretext of enquiring about an address, and sped away after snatching her gold chain weighing 48 gram. The Nandini Layout police are investigating the case.

Body found

A decomposed body of a man, aged around 45, was found in a rented room in Tilak Nagar on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Majeed, a native of Uttar Pradesh. Majeed was working as cleaner in a nearby hotel in Tilaknagar. He was living in the rented room with a roommate.

According to the police, the murder came to light on Saturday morning after a few neighbours complained of foul smell emanating from the room . The police broke open the door and found the body .

During investigation, the police learnt that Majeed had picked up a quarrel with his roommate. His roommate is absconding. A case of murder has been registered in Tilaknagar police station and efforts are on to trace the roommate.
