Two killed in separate accidents

A 50-year-old man was killed on the spot when a speeding BMTC bus knocked him down on the outer ring road in Marathalli on Wednesday night. The deceased, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, was trying to cross the road near the underpass when the speeding bus heading towards Banashankari from Tin factory knocked him down.

Passers-by rushed him to a private hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead. The HAL traffic police have arrested the BMTC driver Valekar for death due to negligence and investigating further.

In another incident, a 26-year-old motorcycle rider was killed on the spot after a speeding truck ran him over at Kengal Hanumanthaiah circle in Shanti Nagar on Wednesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Siddu Avathi. A native of Vijayapura, he was working as a salesman in a shop. The incident happened when he was returning home from work. As he was taking a turn at the circle, a speeding truck knocked him down before running over him. The Wilson Garden traffic police have arrested the truck driver Shivakumar and investigations are on.
