Tusker kills two in Tumakuru

Two shepherds were trampled to death by a tusker near forest area in Sorekayipente in Gubbi taluk of Tumakuru district on Sunday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Nagaraju (50) and Mudalagiriyappa (60) of Sorekayipente.

They had gone to rear sheeps in their fields near the forest on Sunday morning. When they failed to return by evening, family members launched a search and found their bodies on Monday morning.

Range Forest Officer Ramesh told The Hindu , a tusker had entered the forest area near the village on Sunday morning from Bukkapatna forest in Sira taluk.
