A tractor driver was allegedly stabbed to death in front of the Department of Public Works’ chief engineer’s office near K.R. Circle early on Saturday.

The deceased Shiva Nayak, 40, had been living with his wife and three daughters in Hosakerehalli.

According to the police, Shiva Nayak left home on Friday night for optic fibre cable laying work and disappeared from the work site later. Other workers went in search of him and found his body in front of the office gate. They alerted the police, who then shifted the body to Victoria Hospital.

The police ruled out the possibility of murder for gain as his mobile, cash and other valuables were intact. Family members alleged Shiva had differences with civil contractor Venugopal under whom he was working. Based on this, the police summoned Venugopal and other workers for questioning.
