Told to focus on studies, young singer hangs himself

November 06, 2011 09:59 am | Updated 09:59 am IST - Bangalore:

After being asked to continue his studies instead of pursuing a singing career in Mumbai, 21-year-old Aditya Nadig hanged himself with a bed sheet at his home on Ittamadu Road, Sriramnagar, Friday night.

Chennammanakere Achukattu police said that Aditya, who was in the final year of his Bachelors of Business Management (BBM) course, had participated in numerous singing competitions, including a reality show on a Kannada TV channel.

Recently he got an offer to sing in Hindi in Mumbai. “However, on Friday night his parents asked him to get his degree before attempting a singing career.

He was very troubled after they forbade him from going to Mumbai,” said a police official.

His father Ramaswamy found his body on Saturday morning when he went to find out why his son was not up even at 9.30 a.m., the police said.

Baby death case

A case of medical negligence was filed against a government doctor after a nine-month-old infant died hours after she was given an injection on Thursday.

Nisarga was injected with Vitamin A in a Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike-run Primary Health Centre in Kamakshipalya Thursday morning. She was then taken home. Around 3.30 p.m. she started foaming at the mouth and died minutes later.

The grieving parents, Prema and Ramu, filed a complaint in the Kamaskshipalya Police Station, blaming the injection, and a medical negligence case was filed against the doctor.

The doctor told the police that around 50 children were given the injection the same day and there were no problems.

The police are awaiting the post-mortem report, which could take a couple of days, and the Forensic Science Laboratory's report, which could take up to a month.

Husband ends life

A turbulent marriage ended with the husband hanging himself after a row with his wife at their home in Harinagar near Subramanyapura Friday night. K. Ranganaik (35), a painter, and his wife Indramma (30), a helper in a school, had quarrelled in the evening. Around midnight, he hanged himself with a bed sheet. There was no suicide note, but the Subramanyapura police attributed it to marital discord.

“The couple had been quarrelling for years, and the discord increased to such an extent that Ranganaik had left the house for over six months. He had returned during Deepavali to reconcile, but the fights still continued,” said a police source.

In their 15-year marriage, the couple had two children, aged 11 and nine.
