The South East Division police have arrested a gang of three youth for targeting and robbing working women.
The accused have been identified as Manunath (21), Ravi Kiran (21) and Keshava Murthy (19). The police have recovered the stolen valuables including two mobile phones, debit and credit cards along with other valuables worth Rs. 1.15 lakh.
The gang was busted following a complaint filed by Narmada Kalari, a software engineer working in Infosys, Electronic city.
Ms. Kalari was returning from work on June 18, when Manjunath and Ravi Kiran confronted her at Electronic City, Stage II. The duo attacked her and robbed her bag. Parappana Arahara police booked a case and managed to track down the registration number of the motorcycle and later nabbed the duo.
A detailed questioning led them to confess to the three robberies they committed in a span of one week.
According to the police, the accused robbed two mobile phones in different places in Parappana Agrahara and Electronic City before robbing Ms. Kalari of her bag.
The accused would handover the booty to Keshava Murthy for disposal and later share the money, the police said. The trio have been booked for robbery and assault and remanded to judicial custody.
