A 23-year-old IT employee was found smothered to death at her house in Immadihalli, Whitefield, on Monday. The deceased, Vijayalakshmi, a native of Delhi, had come to the city a month ago and was working with a private software firm at ITPB. She was staying on the third floor of a multi-storey apartment.

According to the police, Vijayalakshmi had not come out of her house for three days. When a foul smell started emanating from the house, the house owner opened a window and found her lying lifeless. He then alerted the police. Police found wounds on her body, which was sent for autopsy before being handed over to her family.

Meanwhile, the police are on the lookout for her boyfriend, who had, according to the owner, stayed with Vijayalakshmi for a couple of days. She is believed to have met the man while studying in Delhi. He was working as a gym instructor. When she shifted to Bengaluru, he visited and stayed with her.
