The Indiranagar police are busy deciphering what a bluetooth-like device could be, which was fixed under the seat on the platform at the Indiranagar Metro Station. The CCTv camera installed at the station captured a security guard on Saturday placing the device.

The device was spotted by senior officials of the Namma Metro on Platform 2 who were on rounds at 4 .50 p.m. the same day.

Faruque Hossain, an official, alerted the security in-charge, Devaiah, who rushed to the spot and inspected the gadgets and later verified the CCTV footages.

A detailed verification of CCTV footage revealed that 24-year-old security guard deputed at MG Road metro station, identified as Vennankandy Saron, had placed the device. Saron was detained and handed over to the police along with the gadget.

The Indiranagar police have registered a case against Saron under section 62 of the Metro Railways (Operation and Maintenance ) Act and are investigating.

According to a senior police official, the device resembles a sophisticated bluetooth equipment. The accused has been questioned, but he has not revealed the source and purpose of fixing the gadget. The police are now approaching IT company to identify the equipment.
