Student falls off bus, dies

A second pre-university student, who was standing on the footboard of a BMTC bus, lost her life after fell and came under the wheels of the vehicle, on Tuesday.

The deceased, Shushmita, 17, was a student of Basaveshwara Women's PU College, in Nelamangala traffic police station limits.

According to police, the accident occurred at 4.30 p.m. Shushmita boarded the bus at Ganesh Gudi bus stop after her classes. She was on the way to her home in Hullegowdanahalli.

As the bus reached Sondekuppa Road, she fell off the bus and came under the wheels of the vehicle. She reportedly died on the spot, police said.

The Nelamangala traffic police shifted her body to a hospital for post mortem and arrested bus driver Ramesh. A case has been registered against the driver under Section 304A (causing death by negligence)of the Indian Penal Code, as he had not closed the door of the bus.
