Student dies after being run over by BMTC bus

June 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - Bengaluru:

A 19-year-old BBM student was killed on the spot and his two friends sustained injuries after a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus knocked them down at Hoskote on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Tanzir Nawaz Khan, a second year student of Sai Narayana College in Ramamurthynagar.

The two injured are Suhail Ahmed (19), a B.Com. student, and Ramakrishna (19), a BBM student of the same college. The trio, all residents of Hoskote, were on a two-wheeler on their way to college around 8.30 a.m. when the bus hit their vehicle. They fell off the vehicle, and Tanzir was killed on the spot after the bus ran over him, the police said. The other two were admitted to MEG Hospital in Dandupalaya and are said to be out of danger.

The bus did not stop at the accident spot and it is a clear case of hit-and-run, the police said.

“Unfortunately, none of the CCTV cameras is functioning at the toll booth where the accident took place. We are now gathering details of all BMTC buses plying through the route to identify the guilty driver,” a senior police officer and appealed to the public to pass on information about the bus driver.
