The government of Karnataka is in the process of drafting a new policy on innovation and technology with a view to incorporate recent changes in the regulatory frameworks pertaining to digital technologies and new-age innovation.
E.V. Ramana Reddy, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of IT, BT & S&T said in order to emerge as a global power, India needs to work towards becoming an innovation economy. Karnataka is the leader in the country to achieve this objective and his department is in the process of drafting a new policy on innovation and technology.
“We are considering innovative concepts such as regulatory sandboxes to ensure adequate legal framework for innovation is available. Our aim is to make the State a leading promoter for all emerging technologies by strengthening existing technology Centers of Excellence in areas such as Cyber Security, Data Analytics, IoT, Artificial Intelligence,” said Dr. Reddy on the sidelines of the Confederation of Indian Industry-organised India Innovation Summit 2019 here on Wednesday.
He said Bengaluru has been widely cited as one of the fastest-growing technology hubs and startup capitals in the world.
Bengaluru is ranked 11th Best Global Startup Ecosystem, as per the StartupBlink Startup Eco-system Rankings Report 2019, moving up from 21st position in 2027 and 17th place in 2018, as per data released by StartupBlink. StartupBlink ecosystem ranking report now ranks 1,000 cities and 100 countries worldwide. The ranking is done based on the results of the improved algorithm and it also tracks both momentum and trends within the startup ecosystem.
