Spurned man abducts BPO employee

Allegedly tortured her for eight hours

A man who was allegedly obsessed with a former colleague kidnapped her on Saturday and tortured her for over eight hours in his house at Bilekahalli in an attempt to force her to marry him before she was able to escape and file a police complaint. He also allegedly threatened to kill her husband.

The 27-year-old woman was able to convince her captor to take her to a pharmacy, and used the opportunity to flee to her house. “Her abductor, Goutham V., also in his 20s, is absconding,” said the police.

Based on her complaint, the Electronics City policy have filed an FIR and charged him with kidnap, criminal intimidation and assault.

“The woman works in Electronics City. Goutham was her colleague. The two struck up a friendship, which they maintained even after he quit a few days ago reportedly to join another firm,” said the police.

Soon after he quit, Goutham allegedly started harassing her and insisted that they get married. “The woman alleged that Goutham called her on Saturday and requested that they meet as he had something very important to discuss. She agreed to meet him near her office. He allegdly forced her into a car and took her to his house,” the police added.

In his house, Goutham gagged and bound her, and began to physically assault her as she had refused to marry him. He kept her bound for nearly eight hours until she sought medicine for a stomach ache. “Goutham agreed to take her to a pharmacy on the condition that she did not make a fuss,” said the police.

When Goutham went to an ATM to withdraw money, the complainant ran away, got into an autorickshaw and reached her home where she narrated her ordeal to her family. The next day, on July 7, the woman filed a complaint with the police.
