October 01, 2019 11:58 pm | Updated 11:58 pm IST - Bengaluru

New Mayor M. Goutham Kumar aims to focus on the development of Bengaluru for the benefit of all citizens. Irrespective of parties and political affiliations, we will work together, he said.

Lake protection and rejuvenation, generating more revenue for the cash-strapped BBMP, consolidation of resources, solving traffic congestion, and fixing the solid waste management system are high on his agenda.

Speaking about the coordination needed with other government agencies, he said he will talk to BWSSB officials to resolve issues with them. “The BBMP is being blamed for various activities of the BWSSB, especially digging of roads. We need to sort this problem out as soon as possible,” he said.

On the new garbage tender coming into place, he said he will discuss the issue with the officials and councillors before deciding on it.
