President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee G. Parameshwara said that Vice-Chancellor of Kannada University Mallika Ghanti has to disclose to whom she has given “suitcase” and when.

Referring to allegations made by Ms. Ghanti, Mr. Parameshwara told reporters here on Friday that she had to clarify on the “suitcase culture”. Ms. Ghanti had alleged that one has to take "suitcase" to Vidhana Soudha to get the work done, implying corruption in the corridors of power.

Terming it as a bad development, he remarked that it was incorrect for her to make such allegations, being in a responsible position.

Veerashaiva -Lingayat

Dr. Parameshwara clarified that neither the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah nor the Congress had any had in the Veerashaiva-Lingayat issue.

“Decision on such issues cannot be taken by political parties; it has to be taken by seers, saints and religious leaders.”

He said the party has already directed the Lingayat leaders of Congress to not drag the party into the issue.
