SIT arrests rowdy-sheeter in IMA case

The Special Investigation Team on Tuesday arrested rowdy-sheeter Ishtiaq Ahmed, 50, for allegedly receiving ₹2 crore from I Monetary Advisory (IMA) founder Mohammed Mansoor Khan, who has been accused of cheating thousands of investors of crores of rupees.

Mansoor, who is in the custody of the Directorate of Enforcement, revealed that Ishtiaq was one among many people who had taken money from him. His wife is the BBMP councillor for Shivaji Nagar. “Ishtiaq is a rowdy sheeter with as many as 48 criminal cases against him,” said the police. He was produced before the magistrate and taken into custody.

Officers summoned

Mansoor Khan reportedly told the police that many police officers had also taken money from him. Based on his allegations, DCP (East) Ajay Hilori, Ramesh Kumar, the then ACP, and the inspector of Commercial Street police station Ramesh were summoned to appear before the SIT in the first week of August. The IMA founder alleged that he paid them huge sums of money in return for not taking any action on complaints filed against him. The SIT are investigating these allegations.
